Elizabeth Lwanga King

Elizabeth Lwanga King of Uganda currently works as an Innovations in Development Advisor; Leadership Development Consultant and Executive Coach. She served as Deputy Regional Director for Africa at the United Nations Development Programme; UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, and UNDP Representative in Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. Elizabeth was honoured by the people of Sierra Leone with the prestigious title of Honorary Chief Mammy Yoko II for her contribution to bringing peace to Sierra Leone.

She also worked as manager of the UNDP Gender in Development Programme in New York and as interim Regional Programme Director for UN Women for East and Horn of Africa. Prior to joining the United Nations, she worked as Africa Director for OXFAM America; and Director of Communications with the All-Africa Conference of Churches. Elizabeth is an Eminent Woman of the Women’s Situation Room (WSR) for African Elections; a member of the African Women Mediators’ network (FemWise-Africa) and the African Women Leaders’ Network. She serves on boards of several organizations.
