Dorothy Ssebakka
Dorothy Ssebakka, born on November 29, 1968, in Namasuba, Uganda, embodies a life dedicated to the unwavering dedication, boundless compassion, and unwavering service. Her journey from early education in Kampala to her current leadership roles is a compelling testament to her consistent efforts to empower others and positively impact the world.
Dorothy's educational odyssey commenced at Kako Primary School. It continued through Bat Valley Primary School, Lubaga Secondary School, and Namasagali College, where she cultivated a strong foundation in primary and secondary education. Her relentless commitment to learning led her to the Nakawa Institute of Business Studies in Kampala, Uganda, where she earned a degree in Business Administration (BA).
In 1999, Dorothy and her husband embarked on a new chapter in the United States, delving into the mental health field and amassing extensive experience. Her thirst for knowledge and desire to broaden her expertise led her to MassBay Community College, where she achieved an associate degree in nursing (RN). She pursued her academic journey, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from South University of Georgia.
In 2008, Dorothy's profound empathy and recognition of the challenges faced by Ugandan immigrants in the United States prompted her to establish Women of Purpose International (WOPI) Boston. Later, in 2010, WOPI Uganda was established in Ndejje Senior Secondary School as a club. As the founder and CEO, she has played an indispensable role in molding WOPI into a recognized and impactful organization dedicated to enriching the lives of women and their families in Uganda and the United States. Dorothy's story is a remarkable testament to her leadership, commitment to service, and relentless pursuit of creating a brighter future for those she serves.
